Anonymous asked: Hey so I really want to try a pompadour style. I was wondering how long you'd recommend the top to be, and if you had any suggestions for pomades that aren't that expensive and wash out easily. Murray's apparently stays in your hair for days :(

From my experience I like my hair a bit longer on top. When my hair is down, it reaches my nose.

And I’m guessing you’re kinda new to the pomade world. There are basically 2 kinds of pomades. Petrolatum/Oil base and water base pomades.
The water base ones you can wash out without a problem. For example: Layrite, Suavecito, Shiner Gold, Steadfast,…

The petrolatum base ones are made to stay in your hair. I personally prefer these pomades. They are way easier to style with. They also give a better shine and shine is very important for me.

I use both but I only use water base pomades a few days before I go to the barber. Just a few days of using water base pomades and all the petrolatum pomade is washed out. It’s a small sacrifice I’m willing to take.

Anyway, here’s a video explaining the differences between petrolatum/oil base pomades and water base pomades: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3VoaKLBKxs

Hope this helped you a bit :)
